Ruth Balser has once again filed a bill calling for the installation of these devices in newly constructed one- and two-family homes in her state. The bill is currently co-sponsored by state Sen. Ken Donnelly.

Filed this month, the act states that “in any city or town which accepts the provisions … help site – denpharma every newly constructed building, designed or used for residential occupancy and containing no more than two dwelling units, shall be protected throughout with an adequate system of automatic sprinklers.”

Lawmakers quiz Baker administration officials over proposed early retirement incentive for state employees

BOSTON — Massachusetts House and Senate budget writers quizzed Secretary of Administration and Finance Kristen Lepore on Tuesday about Gov. Charlie Baker’s proposal to trim the state workforce by 4,500 through an early retirement incentive program.

State Reps Push for Funding to Improve Accessibility at Newton’s Rail Stations

Members of the city’s legislative delegation are pushing for $19 million in funding to improve accessibility at two mass transit stations in Newton.

State Reps. Ruth Balser and Kay Khan introduced amendments that were included in the final version of a $12.7 billion transportation bond bill that passed the House of Representatives late last month. Balser’s amendment calls for spending $2 million to make the MBTA Newton Highlands station handicap accessible, and Khan’s amendment called for $17 million to relocate the Auburndale commuter rail station.
